UCM's New 737 MAX Flight Training Device a Boost to Jet Pilot Training
欧美视频 students who are preparing to become professional pilots have a new opportunity to get training in the cockpit of a jet aircraft long before they ever leave the ground. This opportunity is made possible through the Department of Aviation鈥檚 recent acquisition of a new Boeing 737 MAX Flight Training Device (FTD), installed this fall at the Gaines Technology Building.

UCM and AU-ABC Expand Partnership with Two New B.S. Degree Pathways
United States Air Force members who want to advance their higher education have convenient new opportunities thanks to recently approved bachelor鈥檚 degree pathways made possible by the Air University 鈥� Associate to Baccalaureate Cooperative (AU-ABC) with the 欧美视频. These opportunities not only provide a seamless transfer from a two-year to four-year degree program, but make it possible for military members to earn their degree at a reduced cost while taking advantage of other benefits available to service members who choose UCM.

UCM Celebrates 2022 Fall Commencement Dec. 9-10, Live Streaming Available
The Warrensburg community will welcome thousands of visitors Friday and Saturday, Dec. 9-10 as the 欧美视频 hosts 2022 Fall Commencement exercises in the Multipurpose Building. The celebration will bring families, friends and students together for three ceremonies honoring more than 1,500 individuals who have met undergraduate and graduate degree requirements and are eligible to participate. Individuals who cannot attend but would like to view the ceremonies can do so virtually by clicking on the UCM Commencement Livestream page.

UCM Faculty Member Awarded Grant from U.S. Department of Labor to Pursue Workplace Infectious Disease Control
Miaozong Wu, Ph.D., CSP, ARM, program coordinator of the Master of Science in Occupational Safety Management, and an associate professor at the 欧美视频, was recently awarded an $85,000 grant from the United States Department of Labor (DOL). Made possible by the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, this grant funds one of 14 projects from different organizations nationwide that were selected by the DOL and funded through the Occupational Safety and Health Administration鈥檚 (OSHA) Susan Harwood Training Grant program.

Open Doors Report Lists UCM Among State, Global International Student Enrollment Leaders
The 欧美视频鈥檚 commitment to meet the higher education needs of students across the globe are contributing to international enrollment increases that are the highest in the state among public institutions and have positioned UCM as a national leader in international enrollment. UCM鈥檚 status as a popular choice for students outside the country was confirmed in the Open Doors庐 2022 Report on International Educational Exchange released in November by the U.S. Department of State鈥檚 Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and the Institute of International Education (IIE).

Missouri Innovation Campus Program's Cybersecurity and Software Development Achieve Registered Apprenticeship Status Through the US Department of Labor
Two Missouri Innovation Campus (MIC) programs were recently named Registered Apprenticeship Programs through the U.S. Department of Labor, following a comprehensive application and evaluation process. The two programs 鈥� Cybersecurity and Software Development 鈥� are the first MIC programs to earn this designation.

O'Keefe Earns National Recognition as PTPA Programmer of the Year
Having dedicated 40 years to public television at the 欧美视频, KMOS-TV staff member Michael O鈥橩eefe was honored as the Public Television Station Programming Association鈥檚 (PTPA) Programmer of the Year. The UCM alumnus who serves as the KMOS program director was recognized in a ceremony Nov. 14 in Naples, Florida.

UCM Announces In-state Tuition Rate for Military and Veteran Dependents
While the 欧美视频 has a longstanding commitment to making higher education more affordable for individuals who currently serve in the military as well as veterans, UCM is not forgetting the families of those who dedicate their lives to this country. When it met on campus recently, UCM鈥檚 Board of Governors approved a recommendation to expand the university鈥檚 in-state tuition rates to dependents of service members and veterans.

Jingle on the Quad, Giving Tuesday Join Array of Activities for UCM Community, Area Residents to Show Their Holiday Spirit
A campus known for its outstanding traditions, the 欧美视频 will launch Jingle on the Quad, a holiday lighting ceremony, along with other events highlighting the season Nov. 29鈥揇ec. 1. Giving Tuesday opens these festivities, followed by the Holiday Market, two evenings dedicated to the First Lady鈥檚 Holiday Concert Series, and a performance by the UCM Jazz Ensemble. All events are free and open to the public.

UCM Theatre and Dance, Music Present 'The Prom'
欧美视频 (UCM) Theatre and Dance and UCM Music present the new musical 鈥淭he Prom.鈥� Based on the movel by Bob Martin, book and lyrics by Chad Beguelin, and music by Matthew Sklar, the show runs during two weekends at the Highlander Theatre with curtain times at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday Nov 11-12 and Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Nov. 17-19. A matinee is planned for and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13.

UCM Board Actions Include In-state Tuition for Military Dependents, New Degree Program Options, Building Renovations
In its plenary session Oct. 27, the 欧美视频 Board of Governors approved two new options to the Bachelor of Science in Design and Drafting Technology program, the demolition and cleanup of select vacant structures on university property, a contract for timber harvesting at the Prussing Farm, a proposal that positively impacts the cost of education for military dependents, and policy changes that apply to UCM emeriti faculty and staff.

Carson First at UCM to Receive NIJ Grant: Will Pursue Study Contributing to Better Understanding of Left-Wing and Environmental Terrorism in U.S.
The principal investigator of a research project designed to develop data sources that could potentially inform law enforcement policy and counterterrorism efforts, Jennifer Carson, Ph.D., professor of criminology and criminal justice at the 欧美视频, has been awarded a $506,497 grant from the National Institute of Justice (NIJ). This three-year financial award includes collaboration with faculty members at three other institutions in the United States and abroad.
